chivalric code
Medieval warrior ethics
The chivalric code is the medieval system of ideals governing knightly conduct—honor, loyalty, courage, protection of the weak, and courtly behavior toward women.
The term now describes any romanticized standard of gallant or gentlemanly behavior: He lived by an old chivalric code that seemed out of place in modern dating.
