chip reader
Payment card device
A chip reader is a device that reads data from the embedded microchip in a credit card, debit card, or ID card.
Unlike magnetic stripe readers, chip readers require inserting or tapping the card rather than swiping: Insert your card into the chip reader.
The technology provides more secure transactions than the older swipe method.
