security key
Digital identity token
A security key is a small physical device used for authentication, typically plugged into a USB port or tapped against a phone to verify identity when logging into accounts.
Security keys provide stronger protection than passwords alone because they require physical possession: My bank requires a security key for large transfers.
The term also applies to digital codes or passwords that unlock encrypted data or wireless networks.
