chimney-piece
Hearth's decorative surround
A chimney-piece is the decorative framework surrounding a fireplace, including the mantelpiece and any ornamental stonework, woodwork, or tilework.
The term is somewhat old-fashioned, more common in British than American usage: The Georgian chimney-piece dominated the sitting room.
