chemical properties
How matter behaves
Chemical properties describe how a substance behaves when it undergoes chemical change—how it reacts with other substances, whether it burns, corrodes, or decomposes.
Unlike physical properties such as color or melting point, chemical properties can only be observed when a substance transforms into something else: Flammability and reactivity with acids are chemical properties.
Iron's tendency to rust and paper's ability to burn are chemical properties revealed through reaction.
