charcoal tray
Ember holding pan
A charcoal tray is the removable metal pan in a grill or smoker that holds the charcoal briquettes or lump charcoal during cooking.
The tray allows for easier cleanup and often has vents or slots for airflow control: I emptied the ash from the charcoal tray after the cookout.
