A warming rack is a metal grate positioned above a grill's main cooking surface, used to keep food warm without direct heat or to toast buns while meat cooks below.
The term also applies to similar elevated shelves on stoves or in ovens: Move the finished steaks to the warming rack while the vegetables finish.
