catios
Enclosed outdoor cat-spaces
A catio is an enclosed outdoor space designed to let cats experience fresh air and nature while keeping them safe from traffic, predators, and the urge to wander.
These structures range from simple window boxes to elaborate screened porches or freestanding enclosures in yards.
The word blends "cat" with "patio." We built a catio so our indoor cats could watch birds without hunting them.
