community cats
Outdoor colony felines
Community cats are outdoor cats living in a neighborhood without a single owner—either feral cats born wild or abandoned strays that have adapted to outdoor life.
The term emerged from trap-neuter-return programs, where volunteers capture cats, sterilize them, and release them back to their territory rather than euthanizing them.
The city started a community cats program to humanely manage the feral population.
