carol service
Seasonal song event
A carol service is a Christian church gathering, typically held in December, where the congregation sings Christmas carols interspersed with Bible readings about the nativity.
The tradition is especially associated with Anglican churches in Britain: We attended the carol service at the cathedral on Christmas Eve.
The most famous format is the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, broadcast annually from King's College, Cambridge.
