careened

Tilted while moving

Careened originally describes a ship tilted on its side for cleaning or repair.

The word now most commonly means to move rapidly in an uncontrolled manner, lurching or swaying: The car careened down the hill, He careened through the crowd.

Some usage guides insist this should be "careered," but careened dominates in American English for wild, tilting motion.
