A caramel macchiato is a coffeehouse drink made with espresso, steamed milk, vanilla syrup, and caramel drizzle.
Unlike a traditional macchiato (espresso "marked" with a small amount of milk), this American invention reverses the ratio—it's mostly milk with espresso poured on top, then finished with caramel sauce: I'll have a grande caramel macchiato.
