capuche
Pointed cowl covering
A capuche is a hood, especially the long pointed hood attached to a Capuchin friar's habit.
The term extends to similar hoods on other garments, particularly cloaks and coats designed for outdoor wear.
The word comes directly from French and Italian, where it simply means hood.
The monk drew his capuche over his head against the rain.
