callbox

Roadside phone booth

A callbox is a public telephone or emergency communication device mounted in a fixed location.

Traditional callboxes were enclosed booths on streets; modern ones are typically emergency phones along highways or in parking structures, connecting directly to police or roadside assistance: She used the callbox to report the accident.

In British usage, callbox often means any public phone booth.
