by-blows
Children born extramaritally
By-blows are illegitimate children—offspring born outside marriage.
The term is old-fashioned and literary, carrying a sense of something struck off to the side, not part of the main line: The duke acknowledged none of his by-blows.
By extension, a by-blow can be any incidental or secondary result of an action.
