burial place

Where dead lie

A burial place is a location where the dead are interred, encompassing everything from individual graves to vast cemeteries, from ancient catacombs to modern memorial parks.

The term applies broadly to any site designated for holding human remains, whether a family plot, churchyard, mausoleum, or unmarked ground.

We visited the burial place of my ancestors.

Some burial places become sites of pilgrimage or historical significance.
