brotherhoods
Bands of brothers
Brotherhoods is the plural of brotherhood—associations of men united by common interests, beliefs, or purposes.
These range from fraternal organizations and labor unions to religious orders and secret societies: The medieval brotherhoods of craftsmen controlled trade in the city.
The term can also describe the abstract bond among groups: the brotherhoods that form among soldiers in combat.
