breviaries

Daily office books

Breviaries are books containing the daily prayers, hymns, psalms, and readings prescribed for clergy in the Roman Catholic Church and some other Christian traditions.

A breviary organizes the Divine Office—the cycle of prayers said at fixed hours throughout the day.

The term sometimes extends to any condensed or abridged book: a breviary of Renaissance art.
