breeding rights
Mating authorization papers
Breeding rights are the contractual permission to use an animal for reproduction.
When purchasing a purebred dog, cat, or horse, the sale may include or exclude breeding rights: The puppy was sold with full breeding rights.
Without breeding rights, the buyer agrees not to breed the animal, typically enforced through spay/neuter requirements or registration restrictions.
Breeders charge more when breeding rights are included, as they're selling not just the animal but access to its genetic line.
