brake cables
Bicycle deceleration wires
Brake cables are the wires that connect a brake lever to the braking mechanism on a bicycle, motorcycle, or similar vehicle.
When you squeeze the lever, the cable pulls to engage the brake pads against the wheel.
The mechanic replaced my frayed brake cables before they snapped.
On modern bikes, brake cables may be replaced by hydraulic lines.
