brain-eaters

Cranium-craving undead monsters

Brain-eaters are zombies or zombie-like creatures in horror fiction, named for their appetite for human brains.

The term extends to anything that consumes mental energy or dulls thinking: Social media is a brain-eater.

In medicine, brain-eating amoeba refers to *Naegleria fowleri*, a waterborne organism that causes fatal infections.
