book catalogs
Lists of volumes
Book catalogs are organized listings of books, typically held by a library, publisher, or bookseller.
Library catalogs allow patrons to search holdings by title, author, or subject.
Publisher catalogs advertise available and forthcoming titles.
The card catalog—wooden cabinets with drawers of index cards—was the standard library system until computerized catalogs replaced them in the late twentieth century.
