bombing range
Aerial attack zone
A bombing range is a military training area where aircraft practice dropping bombs and other ordnance.
These restricted zones, usually in remote terrain, allow pilots to develop accuracy and test weapons systems: The desert bombing range was off-limits to civilians.
The term also appears in discussions of an aircraft's operational capabilities—how far it can travel while carrying bombs.
