blue macaw
Azure jungle bird
A blue macaw is any of several large parrots native to South America with predominantly blue plumage.
The term most often refers to the hyacinth macaw, the largest flying parrot, or to Spix's macaw, which is extinct in the wild and was featured in the animated film *Rio*.
The blue macaw's striking coloration made it a target for illegal trappers.
