blackeye
Punch-induced purple mark
A blackeye is a bruise around the eye, typically caused by a blow to the face, that appears dark purple or bluish due to blood pooling under the skin.
The term is often written as two words (black eye) and used figuratively to mean damage to one's reputation: The scandal gave the company a black eye.
Blackeye also refers to a variety of bean, more commonly called black-eyed pea.
