Scouting out prospects
Bird dogging is aggressively pursuing or tracking something down, from the hunting dogs that locate game birds for hunters.
In sales, it means seeking out leads or prospects: He spent the weekend bird dogging potential clients.
In politics, it refers to following candidates to public events to ask challenging questions or force them to address specific issues.
