bird box
Feathered tenant housing
A bird box is a small wooden enclosure mounted outdoors to provide nesting shelter for birds—also called a birdhouse or nesting box.
The design typically includes an entrance hole sized for specific species: We put up a bird box to attract bluebirds.
The term gained cultural currency from the 2018 film *Bird Box*, in which characters wear blindfolds to survive.
