best boys
Chief electrical assistants
Best boys are the principal assistants to the head of a film crew's electrical or grip department.
The best boy electric assists the gaffer (chief lighting technician), while the best boy grip assists the key grip.
Despite the name, the position has nothing to do with gender—women in the role are also called best boys.
The term appears in film credits: Best Boy Electric: Mike Chen.
