benchers
Inn governing members
Benchers are senior members of an Inn of Court in England who govern the institution and have the authority to call law students to the bar.
The term also refers to people who sit on benches—either literally, as spectators or reserves in sports The team's benchers rarely see playing time, or figuratively, as members of governing bodies that traditionally sat on benches.
