Jeff Beck

Yardbirds lead guitarist

Jeff Beck was an English rock guitarist (1944–2023) regarded as one of the most innovative and technically accomplished players in rock history.

He pioneered the use of feedback, distortion, and the whammy bar as expressive tools.

Beck played with the Yardbirds before forming the Jeff Beck Group and later pursuing instrumental fusion work.

Unlike contemporaries Clapton and Page, he largely avoided singing and songwriting, focusing on guitar tone and technique: Beck's version of "Cause We've Ended as Lovers" is a masterclass in sustain.
