battery-electric
Charges from outlets
Battery-electric describes vehicles or machines powered entirely by rechargeable batteries rather than internal combustion engines: a battery-electric bus fleet, battery-electric forklifts.
The term distinguishes pure electric vehicles from hybrids, which combine batteries with gasoline engines.
Often abbreviated BEV (battery-electric vehicle).
