baseman
Diamond corner defender
A baseman in baseball is a fielder stationed at one of the three bases: first base, second base, or third base.
The term almost always appears with a modifier indicating which base: The first baseman made a diving catch.
Second baseman covers the area between first and second base, while the shortstop handles the other side of the infield.
Basemen are responsible for fielding ground balls, catching throws, and tagging runners.
