barrel racers
Cloverleaf pattern riders
Barrel racers are rodeo competitors who ride horses at high speed around a cloverleaf pattern of barrels, racing against the clock.
The sport is most popular among women and requires precise horsemanship—knocking over a barrel adds penalty seconds.
The barrel racers warmed up their horses before the evening competition.
