rodeo clowns
Bull-dodging arena entertainers
Rodeo clowns are performers at rodeos who entertain the crowd between events and, more critically, protect fallen riders from angry bulls.
They wear bright costumes and makeup, using agility and distraction to draw dangerous animals away from injured competitors.
The job combines comedy with genuine physical risk.
The rodeo clown jumped into the barrel just as the bull charged.
