author's note
Creator's opening remarks
An author's note is a brief message from the writer to readers, typically appearing at the beginning or end of a book.
It may explain the work's origins, acknowledge liberties taken with historical facts, offer content warnings, or provide personal context: In her author's note, she clarifies which characters are based on real people.
The convention signals a shift from narrative voice to the writer speaking directly.
