artforms
Modes of expression
Artforms are the distinct categories or media through which creative expression takes shape—painting, sculpture, music, dance, literature, film, and so on.
Each artform has its own conventions, techniques, and traditions.
The term often appears in discussions about whether newer media qualify: Video games are now recognized as legitimate artforms.
Also spelled as two words: art forms.
