art openings
Exhibition launch events
Art openings are the inaugural events for gallery or museum exhibitions, typically held in the evening with wine and refreshments.
They function as social occasions where artists, collectors, critics, and enthusiasts gather to view new work and mingle.
The atmosphere tends toward networking and scene-making as much as aesthetic appreciation: I spent the week going to art openings in Chelsea.
