app icon
Launchable grid square
An app icon is the small graphic that represents a software application on a device screen.
Tapping or clicking the icon launches the app.
Icons typically appear on home screens, in app drawers, and in taskbars or docks.
Designers craft app icons to be instantly recognizable at small sizes: The new app icon is just a white bird on a blue background.
