antitank
Against armored vehicles
Antitank describes weapons, tactics, or defenses designed to destroy or disable armored military vehicles, especially tanks.
Antitank missiles, antitank guns, and antitank mines are common examples.
The term emerged in World War I when tanks first appeared on battlefields and militaries scrambled to counter them.
The squad carried antitank rockets for the expected armor assault.
