An ammunition belt is a flexible strip holding cartridges in sequence for feeding into a machine gun or other automatic weapon.
The belt allows continuous fire without manual reloading of individual rounds.
Belts may be fabric, metal links, or disintegrating links that separate as each round feeds into the chamber.
