alarm clock

Bedside wake-up device

An alarm clock is a clock designed to wake someone at a preset time, typically by producing a loud sound, buzzer, or music.

The defining feature is its ability to be set in advance: I set my alarm clock for six in the morning.

Modern alarm clocks may be standalone devices, built into phones, or integrated with smart home systems.

The snooze button, which delays the alarm briefly, has become a standard and much-abused feature.
