airway blockage
Throat passage blocked
Airway blockage is obstruction of the passages through which air moves into and out of the lungs.
The blockage may be partial or complete, caused by foreign objects, swelling, or the tongue falling back in an unconscious person.
The Heimlich maneuver can dislodge an airway blockage.
Complete blockage is a medical emergency requiring immediate intervention.
