abdominal thrusts
Anti-choking first aid
Abdominal thrusts are a first-aid technique for dislodging an object from a choking person's airway.
The rescuer stands behind the victim, wraps their arms around the waist, and delivers quick upward thrusts just above the navel.
The pressure forces air from the lungs to expel the obstruction.
Also called the Heimlich maneuver after the physician who developed it.
