airtanker
Aerial fire suppression
An airtanker is an aircraft equipped to drop water or fire retardant on wildfires.
These planes—often converted military cargo aircraft or purpose-built tankers—can deliver thousands of gallons in a single pass: Three airtankers worked the ridge while ground crews cut firebreaks below.
Also spelled as two words: air tanker.
