airshed
Shared breathing region
An airshed is a geographic region that shares a common air supply, bounded by topography or meteorology.
Like a watershed for water, an airshed defines the area within which air pollutants circulate and affect air quality: The valley's airshed traps smog during temperature inversions.
The term appears in environmental policy and urban planning.
