aggrandisement

Puffing oneself up

Aggrandisement is the British spelling of aggrandizement—the act of increasing power, wealth, status, or importance.

It often carries connotations of excessive or unwarranted self-promotion: The dictator's policies served only his own aggrandisement.

The word appears most often with "self-": a transparent act of self-aggrandisement.
