Newspaper wisdom section
An advice column is a regular newspaper or magazine feature where a writer responds to readers' questions about personal problems—relationships, etiquette, family conflicts, career dilemmas.
The format dates to the early twentieth century; Dear Abby and Ann Landers became household names.
The term extends to online equivalents: I read an advice column about dealing with difficult coworkers.
