aborted
Cut short prematurely
Aborted describes something that was cut short before completion.
A mission, launch, or procedure that is aborted has been deliberately stopped partway through: The pilot aborted the landing due to crosswinds.
In medical contexts, an aborted pregnancy is one that ended before the fetus could survive outside the womb, whether spontaneously or intentionally.
The word can also describe something undeveloped or stunted: an aborted attempt at conversation.
