abdicators

Power-abandoning rulers

Abdicators are those who abdicate—who formally renounce or give up power, responsibility, or a claim.

The word most often describes monarchs who step down from thrones, but extends to anyone who abandons duties or positions: The board members were abdicators of their fiduciary responsibilities.

The tone is usually critical, implying failure or cowardice.
