YWCAs
Women's fitness facilities
YWCAs is the plural of YWCA, which stands for Young Women's Christian Association.
These are community organizations that began in the mid-nineteenth century to provide housing, support, and services for young women, particularly those moving to cities for work.
Today YWCAs offer a range of programs including fitness facilities, childcare, job training, and advocacy for women's empowerment, with the religious emphasis largely diminished from their founding mission.
